Streetwear culture was born over thirty years ago on competing coasts, eventually combining the ease of California skater style with New York’s trendsetting takes to reshape fashion forever.
The success of streetwear has an undeniable connection to hip hop and the Black community’s adoption of many streetwear brands. From A$AP Rocky to Travis Scott, Stüssy has been cosigned by some of the best dressed in the game.
After a long hiatus, Shawn Stüssy has announced his return to the game with the relaunch of his brand S/DOUBLE. When the label founded in 2008, the brand offered a more sensible approach to street style with a preppy edge.
Let’s take a look back at some of Stüssy’s best collabs ahead of their founder’s return.
Stüssy x Nike SB Dunk Low Cherry
Released in 2005, the iconic pink and brown colorway put the brand on the map. Widely agreed to be one of the holy grails of the game, the shoe is still heavy sought after today.
Stüssy x Tribe
In 2015, the label celebrated it’s 20th year in NYC by paying homage to the New York rap legends. A Tribe Called Quest’s logo and group photos were reimagined in Stüssy’s signature graphic style.
Stüssy Nike Spiridon Cage 2
Stüssy had a long line of collaborations with Nike after the monumental success of their first collaborations. This rendition of the sleek 90s silhouette came in a minimal neutral colorway and metallic edition.
Stüssy x Bape Trucker Caps
The two streetwear legends came together to create a small but strong collection built on the classic elements that made each brand a household name.
Stüssy x Patta
Over the last several years, Stüssy and Dutch brand Patta have mastered the art of collaboration. Their most recent release brings a celebration of music and a variety of cultures.
