RESORT 2025 REVIEW: DIESEL

Diesel’s 2025 Resort collection was a successful venture into experimentation for the most popular brand in the OTB group, leading its fellow group members in growth, only second to Maison Margiela.

Known for its edgy approach to fashion classics, Diesel showed off its refined side this collection, exploring the brand’s range beyond contemporary design. The collection is anchored by smart leather pieces tailored to immaculate perfection. The dramatic yet understated oversized outerwear in the collection makes a strong starting statement in murky hues of gray denim, leather, ribbed knits and textured tweed.

Diesel is no stranger to metallics, yet innovatively took their foot off the gas for this collection.  Shine is tastefully used throughout the collection for under layers, trims and accessory details.

The brand strategically included an illuminating silver metallic jacket and jumpsuit to illustrate exactly how strong this switch in direction was, truly letting the structural designs shine louder than the fabric choice.

While this collection feels a lot more commercial than previous seasons, Diesel is bound to have some fun with an unexpected edge. Artistically distressed velvet sets and soft ruched denim designs make you want to grab a second look at the impeccable craftsmanship that is emerging as another it-factor of the Italian brand.

Not only can fashion at Diesel be fun, it can be incredibly functional. This season, Diesel’s quintessential denim boasted the brand’s dual focus on both utility and style with cargo pockets and standout stitching details. The  brand brought the idea home with a skirt set with fully functional storage, including a large pocket across the front and a coordinating double pocket bra top.

Hazey colorful airbrushed and stonewashed graphics provided a soft complement to the collections heavier hues and Diesel’s famous bold ‘D’ embossed graphic bags. Elements of racing culture are imprinted in the latter looks in the collection from color blocking to stripes galore.Styling was the name of the game for this season, from layering shorts over jeans and dresses over pants to rocking two Diesel bags lopped together at one time.

The brand’s mission, “for successful living” makes an embroidered appearance in the collection, and it is clear that under the leadership of creative director Glenn Martens, that rings true for the revived brand here to stay.
