RESORT 2025 REVIEW: CHANEL

Writer's picture: Taya CoatesTaya Coates

It is no easy feat to reinvent the Chanel wheel while honoring the immortal brand, but even the fashion house that represents the epitome of the clean girl aesthetic understood it’s a brat summer.

Opening with a bright lime green classic Chanel suit signaled a revolutionary shift for this summery preview from the brand. Bold moves to connect with a younger demographic were made with shimmery silver metallics and faux leather materials reminiscent of Diesel’s designs.

The Chanel team made it clear they have their ear to the streets with Pinterest-inspired bright chunky crotchet cardigans and rhinestone logo details. Trendy details were elevated with innovative styling renditions of the brand’s classics, including the Chanel blazer with slouchy long shorts and relaxed low waist signature sets.

Coquette influence was sprinkled throughout the collection with drop waist designs, tiered lace looks, flowing florals and plenty of bows.

The layering in this collection was immaculately intent, modernizing classic Chanel looks with eye-catching silhouette’s that showed off a bit of skin for this resort collection. Trending micro-mini bloomer shorts were paired with long traditional tweed blazers with flounced long sleeves, leaving the legs in the spotlight.

Jewelry was the true star of the collection, from charm encrusted body chains to decorated waist belts paired with chunky necklaces and earrings.

Parts of the collection leaned on the line of playing it a bit too cool with jarring front pockets  on boxy coverup dresses and lazy attempts at romper renovations. In addition, weaved halter necklines and matching striped sets were sore references to the last decade.

Chanel would not be the brand it is today without woven and tweed matching sets, refreshing the silhouettes with various cuts from relaxed to cropped, even whimsically mixing prints and patterns.

The twelve white closing looks stripped the collection down to the bone, letting the immaculate design details reign supreme, showcasing the heritage of the house with a mix of tweed and lace looks in a variety of dreamy organic silhouettes.
