Louis Vuitton recently appointed Pusha T as the newest brand ambassador to join the legendary French fashion house. His longstanding relationship with the brand since Virgil Abloh’s tenure and hometown connection to Pharrell made this partnership a match made in heaven.
Dropping hints at his most recent appointment, Pusha walked in the western themed Men’s Fall 2024 Louis Vuttion show in January and debuted a new song with his brother, No Malice.
Both starting their music careers in Virginia Beach in the 90s, Pusha and Pharrell have a long history of collaboration, leading up to Pharrell producing several tracks on Pusha’s most recent release ‘It’s Almost Dry.‘
In a 2023 interview with Vogue, Pusha reflected on his connection to the industry. “Fashion has always been a part of my DNA” he said. “It always kept everyone very competitive, and I always looked at this as part of hip hop’s entirety. I’ve never separated fashion from the music.”
Pusha is the second rapper to become an ambassador for the brand in its 170 year history. Past Louis Vuttion ambassadors include Zendaya, Victor Wembanyama, and Tyler the Creator, who co-designed a capsule collection with the brand earlier this year.
This marks a greater investment in promoting the Black artists that provide endless inspiration relevancy for one most famous fashion brands. Louis Vuitton has been widely adopted by the Black community since custom creations by Dapper Dan made the brand relevant to youth culture in the 80s.
In a post on the brand’s instagram, Louis Vuitton marked the partnership as “beginning a new chapter of Louis Vuitton’s longstanding commitment to the musical arts.
“His ambassadorial nomination at Louis Vuitton is a testament to his commitment to artistry and a strong personal style, both echoing the maison’s own dedication to unique expression across fashion and culture, a Louis Vuttion representative told WWD.
