Puma's Resurgence: Strides in the Sneaker World

Shayla Chambers

2024 was a winning year for the brand Puma. Rising sales, popularity, and high profile collaborations are some of the defining moments that contributed to the success. In previous years, Puma laid low on the radar of sneaker culture and trending fashion. However, it has leapt back into the game with force.

The decision to revive signature styles such as the Speedcat and the Mostro proved to be a smart move. The Palermo, an everyday classic, has even been in conversations as having potential to be the next “it” sneaker amidst  the long reign of popular Adidas and Nike designs. As captured by sales and throughout social media, it’s evident that buyers are resonating with what the brand is offering in this current period of renewal. The revamped retro aesthetic aligns with the present landscape of popular fashion and streetwear.

From Dua Lipa to A$AP Rocky, celebrities have played a role in repositioning the brand as trendy. Recently, Rocky received the 2024 Collaboration of the Year award for his joint efforts with Puma. Their latest collection, featured at New York Fashion Week, showcases custom crafted pieces including distressed detailing that evokes the authenticity of racing designs. Many items within the limited range offered for sale quickly sold out. For many consumers this exclusivity adds a layer of desirability to the brand that was not as much of a factor to consider previously.

Will you be rocking Pumas in the new year? Do we think the brand’s  momentum will continue to grow?
