Now that summer is officially in full swing, it’s time to see what the trends of the season will be. The spring 2024 runway collections presented last fall predicted white basics with decorative details, preppy pieces and mini skirts as leading trends.
As we face another summer season of record-breaking temperatures, we can likely expect fashion to find innovative ways to do the most with less.
Last summer, coquette and cowboy culture reigned supreme but will they be replaced?
We wanted to know what do YOU think will be the trend of the summer?
We took to our story to get your input and this is what some of you had to say.
Bloomer shorts
Emerging as an offshoot of the girly coquette aesthetic that has prevailed for the last year, lace and plaid bloomer shorts have been a staple pin on every Pinterest board.
Sambas
The classic Adidas silhouette has had a crazy run for the last year, dropping more colorways and exciting collaborations.
Denim one-pieces
The classic Americana head to toe denim look is very on brand with the rise of preppy looks and the quiet ironic resurgence of early 2010s brands like Hollister and Aeropostale.
Loafers
Also on board with the professional preppy staples, loafers for both girls and guys are growing in popularity by the day. The vintage shoe is a unique evolution from the 50s inspired coquette trend, adding strong contrast to streetwear looks.
Lace Everything
The girly coquette aesthetic with ribbons, ruffles and bows still holds a stronghold on social media. Direct references to last year’s look are out but lace is here to stay.
Tennis outfits
The “Challengers” craze made tennis cool again, and as many pick up the hobby, the preppy style including polo tops and tennis skirts emerges as a new fad too.
Bubble skirts
Whimsical bubble skirts popped on the scene early in spring, becoming a quick staple. The structured skirt is taking off the same way the skater skirt did exaclty ten years ago, both creating strong emphasis on the waistline.
