Meet the very first class of the McDonald’s Change of Fashion Program, founded by the brand’s Black & Positively Golden (B&PG) platform.
B&PG was brought to life with the inaugural Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour in 2019. In 2021, the organization partnered with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), to create the Black & Positively Golden® Scholarship Program for HBCU students.
To expand on Black & Positively Golden Change Leaders program, the Change of Fashion Program was created to honor all that Black culture has contributed to fashion and increase Black designer representation in the industry.
The Change of Fashion Program will provide life changing resources, mentorship from leading professionals in the industry, and $200,000 to each of the up-and-coming designers.
This year’s cohort was featured at the BET Awards and presented by Kolin Carter, famous celebrity stylist of Cardi B, Normani and Victoria Monét. The designers also hosted talks on their creative processes at the Essence Festival.
