Over time we've seen the mini skirt go through a period of evolution. From new trends to revamped ones, the style has managed to maintain its relevancy as a fashion staple. Most recently, bubble skirts have taken over the scene. Apart from the implied short length, it's known for the voluminous appearance and feminine flair.
Taking it back to previous decades like the early 2000s, we can see how the influences of pop culture impacted the iterations of the mini skirt at the time. Denim has arguably always been on trend, however it gained notable momentum as the most popular choice of skirt. Appearing in various ways with different modifications, every "it-girl" during that time had some form of this style in her closet. Celebrities from the likes of Rihanna to Kimora Lee even showcased it on red carpets and at events.

It's interesting to imagine how this staple will continue to evolve as times change and new trends emerge on the scene. Themes such as "coquette" and "cottage-core" have had a ripple effect on fashion as people have incorporated it into their personal style, thus impacting the pieces that are selected as a part of it. Newer themes are bound to play a role in what's considered to be on trend for the mini skirt and how the next phase of its evolution appears.
